Zuniceratops was a vegetarian that lived around 93 to 90 million years ago during the mid Cretaceous period.
Zuniceratops was similar in appearance to a Rhinoceros. It had a large bony frill at the back of its head, one stumpy horn projecting from its snout just above its beak and and two long horns projecting from its forehead.
Like all Ornithischians Zuniceratops had a toothless beak for stripping tough vegetation off plants, and lots of teeth in is jaws for chewing it. Zuniceratops probably lived in herds grazing off low lying vegetation growing on the plains.
Contemporary predators would have included Tyrannosaurs rex.
Zuniceratops means "Zuni horned head". It was named by Douglas G. Wolfe and James I. Kirkland in 1998. Fossils have been found in New Mexico, USA.
