What color were Dinosaurs?
It's really difficult to know what colour Dinosaurs were, fossils don't tell us
much about the pigmentation in the skin.
It would seem reasonable to compare them to modern reptiles. By
observing the habitat and nature of the dinosaur we are interested in
it's possible to make a guess using a modern reptile that is similar.
It is known that some dinosaurs had feathers. Feathered dinosaurs belong to the
Coelurosaur family, which includes tyranosaurs, raptors and the ancestors of modern
birds. It's probable that the range of colours these ancient feathers had was similar
to their modern versions.
